Description

Now run by Catherine Buisson and her husband Patrick Essa, the modest-sized Buisson-Charles estate - 6.3 hectares - has been operating for several generations plots located on the Meursault finage that it completes with crus from Volnay, Pommard, Corton and Chambertin for its red wines as well as Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Chablis Premier Cru and Grand Cru, Pouilly-Fuissé and Corton-Charlemagne in whites.

Resolutely turned towards the future, it has been engaged for several years in a policy of renovation and extension of its winery and cellars in order to further refine its vinifications and ageing to be as close as possible to the great terroirs that it has the exceptional chance to produce. These have always been cultivated on the basis of regular ploughing work on the soil which excludes any presence of weed killers. This resolutely natural approach to the vine is found with intensity in the white (70%) and red wines, all of which are vinified, aged and bottled by the estate.

The estate now operates nearly 4 hectares of Meursault and Meursault premiers crus in very diverse climates that make it possible to make a complex blend cuvée, the Meursault "vieilles-vignes" and to isolate particular crus such as Tessons en village and Charmes, Cras, Bouches-Chères, Blagny La Pièce Sous Le Bois and Goutte d'Or in premiers crus. The very old vines - between 30 and 90 years - being naturally not very productive they make it possible to obtain after vinification and aging very concentrated wines intended for long ageing. An assumed choice that anchors the production of the estate in the long term.

These four hectares are completed by plots of red and white Burgundy, Volnay premier cru Santenots and Pommard "En Chiveau" as well as a small production of Chassagne-Montrachet in premiers crus En Remilly, Les Caillerets and Romanée until 2018 then Embazées from the 2020 vintage.
