Selection cellar Maison des Millésimes Paris
The sharing of know-how between generations gives our wines the spirit that we wish to highlight. The authenticity of our terroir, the care given to the grapes, the follow-up of the development of the wine for months.
In the second half of the 19th century, the ancestors of Monsieur Dartiguenave, owner of Château les Tuileries, began to plant vines. They were coopers and knew the art of wine. Little by little, the estate grew and from Cru Artisan became Cru Bourgeois. (This new status was recognized in 1986 by the Syndicat des Crus Bourgeois and then renewed each year since the new classification of 2003). It should be noted that over the years, the vineyard, replanted following the catastrophic frosts of 1956, has been enlarged over the generations, over 28 ha to date, and that winemaking premises have been, little by little , expanded and modernized.
The vineyard of Château les Tuileries occupies an area of 28 ha, it is made up of four plots located on the main clay-limestone hilltops of the commune of Saint-Yzans de Médoc, planted with 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc. and Sauvignon.
The two main lots are located on the one hand to the east of the village of St Yzans de Médoc, on the other hand to the north of the same village. The first drops very slightly in a southerly direction, between 8 and 5 meters above sea level, while the second occupies a hilltop that culminates at 10 meters to drop to the south and east by about 5 meters.
This clay-limestone soil on a stony base is planted at a density of 5000 vines/hectare on quality rootstocks, adapted to limestone.
The Médoc climate is relatively hot and humid. These features protect the vines from late spring frosts. The geographical location between the ocean and the estuary acts as a thermal regulator; the microclimate of the Médoc is conducive to the harvest of grapes.
The Médoc vineyard extends along the Left Bank of the Gironde from the city of Bordeaux. It conceals prestigious terroirs, and just as many passionate winegrowers.
Mechanical harvesting, on-board destemming. At the entrance to the cellars, the harvest is placed on a vibrating sorting table, followed by vatting (only grape berries).
At first, we pre-ferment cold for 5 to 6 days for a first pellicular maceration. Then comes the alcoholic fermentation (between 18° and 28°), all controlled by thermoregulation, as well as twice-daily pumping over for better extraction. All this will be followed by a maceration of about 20 days.
The wines are blended in the spring and then put into barrels, mostly new, as they are renewed by thirds each year. They stay there between 12 and 24 months. Total aging lasts between 20 and 30 months.
The bottling is done at the Château under the responsibility of Mr. Jean-Luc Dartiguenave after a preparation of the wines in the purest Médoc tradition.
