Description

Located in the heart of green Provence, the Gasqui valley extends to the north of the last foothills of the Massif des Maures. At an altitude of 280 m, it enjoys a privileged natural location: the clay-limestone terraces where the vineyard is located surround the lake of Bonne Cougne, geological dolline and natural siphon, hosting flora and fauna endemic to the interest exceptional and classified as a protected European natural heritage "Natura 2000".

This original geology favors the thermal amplitudes of the valley and a remarkable bio-diversity: Hermann's tortoise, the crustacean Linderiella massaliensis, the mugwort of Molinier...to which is added that of the oak forests of the estate.

Cedars several hundred years old mark out a refreshing route through the estate and contribute to the luminous and gentle identity of Gasqui.

The biodynamic conception of agriculture is based on the need to conceive the agricultural domain as a living organism.

The use of specific preparations based on minerals, medicinal plants and animal substances will serve as an impetus to the principles of life and allow a real rebirth of agricultural soils and restore the fertility of the Earth.

The vines develop in perfect natural harmony and do not need fertilizers or synthetic chemical molecules to defend themselves.

The wines produced in the Gasqui vineyard are labeled by Demeter France and by Ecocert, attesting to compliance with the principles of biodynamics and organic farming.

Fruits of the natural harmony present in the vineyard, the grapes harvested by hand have remarkable characteristics of finesse.

The underground cellar of Gasqui, built in 1896, allows gravity vatting to accompany the harvest as gently as possible, without the need for a pump.

The fermentations, entirely natural thanks to the vitality of the yeasts present on the bloom of the berries, take place over several months, sometimes even until the beginning of summer, 9 months after the harvest.

Respecting these seasonal cycles makes it possible to obtain wines with exceptional vitality, without using the classic practices of modern oenology (tartaric acid, enzymes and clarifying products, selected yeasts, vitamins and nitrogenous products) as well as the quantities of sulphite are extremely weak, and the filtrations very limited.

The thirty hectares of vines are harvested by hand, the grapes are transported in twenty-kilo crates to the underground cellar dating from 1896. We use gravity vatting to accompany the harvest as gently as possible. . The fermentation action of the wines will take place thanks to the native yeasts naturally present in the bloom of the grains and we pay particular attention to the lesser use of sulphur. In the logical continuity of our living wine philosophy, we do not use enzymes or fining.

The red wines of Gasqui are the fruit of the traditionally Provençal grape varieties Syrah, Grenache, Carignan. These are wines for laying down, which can be drunk at 10 years with a very good ability to age thanks to significant vatting, never less than 25 days, aging in wood, tuns or barrels, from 15 to 36 months .

The white wines of Gasqui are made from the Clairette, Sémillon, Vermentino and Ugni blanc grape varieties.
They are obtained exclusively by maceration of fresh juice before fermentation, without pressing. Their fermentation is very slow, over several months and they are aged in half oak barrels.

Rosé wines are blended from Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Tibouren. Rosé juices are obtained either by bleeding maceration tanks or by dynamic draining. As with white wines, their fermentation takes several months.
