Description

From its original cradle on Corton Hill, Maison Louis Latour contemplates more than two centuries of Burgundian history. It was from the 1730s that the Latour family became owners of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. The main activity of the family at the time was cooperage. In 1768, Jean Latour founded his own cooperage in Aloxe-Corton, before building up a vast estate. The Maison Louis Latour, as such, was founded in 1797 and from the early 1800s, the wines of the house were exported throughout Europe and then the world. Even today, the family business is one of the most important exporters of Burgundy wines.
The Louis Latour style is a judicious blend of the richness of nature and the work of man. The house respects the rhythm of the vine and vinifies its wines in accordance with their typicity with a desire to bring out the elegance and balance of the great Burgundy terroirs. The reds are fine, elegant and racy with the delicacy of Pinot Noir and the subtlety of its aromas. The whites are structured, rich and balanced, and emphasize the power of Chardonnay, its hint of acidity and freshness.
