In 2018, Alvina Pernot, granddaughter of Paul Pernot, founder of the eponymous estate, created with her husband the Domaine Alvina Pernot and sold her first vintage. Located in Puligny-Montrachet, south of the Côte d'Or, in Burgundy, the estate offers exceptional white wines from Chardonnay. Pinot Noir provides the estate's only red wine.
Domaine Alvina Pernot offers high-end white wines. The couple of producers vinifies the Puligny-Montrachet appellation from their own vineyards. It also produces Meursault Premier Cru, from a young vineyard in 2004. Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru comes from vineyards between 50 and 65 years old. The estate offers other bottles of white Burgundy: Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Batard-Monrachet Grand Cru and Saint Romain. The only red wine on the estate is a Santenay.
Alvina Pernot creates wines that stand out from those of her family. She particularly takes care of the tension and freshness of the wines. The grapes are harvested manually and collected in small wooden crates. The pressing of the fruits is vertical. Both of these methods reduce oxidation and provide a purer juice. The ageing is done on lees in oak barrels, without racking until bottling (aging from 11 to 12 months for the moment, possibility of making longer aging depending on the vintage).
Not wishing to mark the wines with wood and thus keep as much as possible the tipicity of each terroir Alvina and Philippe have chosen to use very little new barrel
(between 0% and 20% depending on the vintage).
