Description

From the end of the 30s, Robert Peyronie undertook to build a vineyard from Crus on the verge of disappearance or sold at auction, such as Fonbadet and La Tour Du Roch Milon. He intensified his acquisitions of vines in the aftermath of the Second World War and gave the Fonbadet brand to his best vintages.

It was in 1963, on the death of his father, that Pierre Peyronie, current owner, vinified his first vintage in Fonbadet.

Thereafter, he will continue to increase the size of the property by buying small plots.

It was in 1971 that Pierre Peyronie bought Château Pauillac at auction as well as his little brother Château Haut-Pauillac.

Today, and after more than twenty years alongside her father Pierre Peyronie, Pascale, a lawyer by training, has taken over combining respect for traditions and the use of modern techniques.

Fifty years old and renewed by systematic complanting, the vineyard of Domaines Peyronie is among the lowest yields in the Pauillac appellation.

The traditional pruning of the Médoc, known as double guyot, makes it possible to obtain a natural control of the yields of our old vines.

The maintenance of the soils of the Domaines Peyronie respects the tradition with ploughing, scratching and seasonal cavaillonnages.

The 20 hectares of the vineyard benefit from a traditional grape variety in Médoc.
The terroir sites of the Domaines Peyronie are located on deep gravel ridges with a well-dissected profile, with an altitude between 14 and 22 meters.

These soils form, by nature, the main geopodological component of the terroirs of the Grands Crus Classés, from Margaux to Saint-Julien, from Pauillac to Saint-Estèphe.

In 2002, on the occasion of the purchase of a plot, the Domaines Peyronie exchanged 3 hectares with Château Mouton Rothschild in order to organize the consolidation of the vineyard on this part.

The nature of the gravel and colluvial soils of the Domaines Peyronie vineyard is therefore identical to that of the Grands Crus Classés of the Médoc
