Selection cellar Maison des Millésimes Paris
Following a separation from his brothers, Bertrand Machard de Gramont created his estate in 1983. He replanted the spectacular terraces of Vallerots, a very steep terraced hillside on the heights of Nuits-Saint-Georges. It is on this appellation that the majority of the vines of this small estate are located. After another life, Bertrand's daughter, Axelle, returned to the estate in 2004. She initiated the organic transition (certified in 2014) and a gentle work, such as the foot treading in truncated wooden vats after destemming. The choices of this energetic winemaker pay off and the wines deliver dense and unvarnished expressions of their respective terroirs, sometimes a little marked by cold maceration. The farms are being refined and the estate still has room for improvement.
The wines: coulis of ripe black fruits in the fruit of Burgundy, quite thick and generous. Very ripe and unctuous, Les Vallerots pushes maturity further. Chubby, quite saturated, this wine is a ball of black fruit that evokes a blackcurrant sorbet. Fresher and sweet tone in the fruit Les Terrasses des Vallerots, always very ripe but tangy, with a dense and creamy texture but well balanced and persistent. Nose of wild blackberries in the nights Aux Allots, fleshy and opulent, provided with dense and quite dry tannins that suffocate a little the finish. A more nervous and crunchy profile in Les Hauts Pruliers, a wine that is still very ripe but whose ample flesh is a little more nervous, with abundant tannins in a rather warm finish. Notes of cachou and violet candy in the Vosne-Romanée, heavy wine, quite thick and carried away by alcohol.
