Piedra Sagrada - Cuvée Prestige Arturo Perez - 2015 - DO Pirque, Valle de Alto Maipo

Red

Description

In the Valle de Alto Maipo, 2015 was a hot, small-harvest vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon is in all its strength, opulence, density, it would have been an organic exaggeration without the qualities of the terroir which finally melted the tannins made delicately noticeable, without harshness, without bitterness.
Tasting comments Eric Verdier: We find the velvety character that characterizes this insolent and elegant wine:
Black garnet color, nose of candied red fruits marinated in spices, a touch of cedar wood, a hint of cloves and a light scent of violet that announces itself without being overwhelming.
Upon attack, the palate recognizes the myriad of flavors that the nose had detected ... Another sign of class.
This wine offers a magnificent aromatic palette. Carried by a silky texture and subtle tannins, it makes the taster say that if Petrus were a Cabernet Sauvignon, it would be a Piedra Sagrada from this vintage.

Type of soil: Alluvial terrace, stony soil, rich in minerals, clay, gravel and stones dragged there by ancient glaciers.

Vinification: classic Médoc, without filtration. Respect for the expression of the terroir and the vintage dictates the conduct of vinification and aging.

Climatic conditions: Dry winter, with only 240 mm of precipitation between May and September 2014. October and early November were hot, dry, and sunny. But between mid-November and mid-December the temperatures dropped and the sky was particularly cloudy.
A particularly hot and dry summer with high temperatures between mid-December and the third week of March. Veraison started earlier than expected.

Confidential production: 4332 bottles, Manual harvest

Aging: 13 months in French oak barrels (new barrels).

Know a bit more about the domain

The entire vineyard has been designed and built from 2002 with strict respect for the terroir, with the use of advanced technologies: water autonomy, drip irrigation, automatic sprinkling, and distribution of the plants in accordance with the race of the southern sun. Its only objective was to magnify the original cabernet sauvignon grape on an exceptional terroir: Pirque, in the Valle de Alto Maipo, at the foot of the Andes mountain range at 650 meters above sea level, not far from Santiago. .
