Description

Welcome to the ancient Pieve San Felice in Pincis. Its history has its roots in the Etruscan era, crosses the papacy, is contested by the municipalities of Florence and Siena, and sees alternate management of local families. The last are the Grisaldi Del Taja, one of the founders of the Chianti Classico Consortium, in the first half of the 20th century. In the 1970s, a new development model was born: the estate was acquired by the Allianz Group, which focuses on wine and territorial excellence. The village, thanks to careful work, is fully restored with interventions that highlight the characteristics of architecture and art. The company is undertaking an extensive programme of replanting the vineyard, with the aim of enhancing the Sangiovese; project supported by scientific research on indigenous vines, in collaboration with the universities of Florence and Pisa. In 1982, the Campogiovanni estate was also acquired, 20 hectares of vineyards on the hills of Montalcino, another territory with a great winemaking tradition. Today, Borgo and San Felice are two successful realities with a single soul, which combines tradition and innovation.

We will be delighted to welcome you on a visit to our estate to introduce you to the history of our estate, the work done in the vineyards, the stages of the process of making our wines followed by a tasting of several of our vintages.

Looking forward to welcoming you

San Felice wants to preserve the uniqueness of these lands also for future generations. This is why it respects the environment, but is also attentive to the economic sustainability of the activities carried out. Today more than ever, the landscape of Chianti and the beauty of the village are protected, preserving the buildings of greater value, but also the old dry stone walls. Soil erosion is limited by maintaining terraces and constantly analyzing the variability of flora and microfauna. The vineyards are managed in "precision viticulture", which allows ad hoc treatments for each plant, for less environmental impact and a better quality product. A great attention is paid to the biodiversity of the vine: with the experimentation of the Vitiarium hundreds of species have been cultivated and studied for more than thirty years, to understand what value they can bring to the company but also to prevent them from falling into oblivion. Sustainability is also a participation project, such as those launched by the UMANA MENTE Foundation of the Allianz Group, which involve young novices and seniors who want to pass on their skills. Not to mention initiatives dedicated to children with disabilities or in difficulty of social integration. See less
