Description

A ripe and charming nose exhaling a caressing wave of aromas of cassis, crushed plum and blackberry compote which dominates, while leaning on seductive mineral nuances, savory, licorice and warm bread.

Know a bit more about the domain

In 1365, the noble house of Bosq began the adventure of wine by giving birth to the vineyard. In the 18th century, the Scottish merchant George Smith bought the estate, attached his name to it, built the charterhouse and exported the wines produced to England, thus contributing to their fame. In 1957, Château Smith Haut Lafitte passed into the hands of the Bordeaux merchant Louis Eschenauer. The 1959 classification for the wines of Graves confirms their reputation by classifying the reds as grand cru. There remains the question of the classification of white wines, which does not only concern this area and feeds the debates of experts and connoisseurs.
Since 1990, the owners are Florence and Daniel Cathiard, who fell in love with the place and the wines produced. This is a real renaissance for the property. The Cathiards are inhabited by the constant concern to express the best of their grapes and their terroirs. Given the reputation of the estate and the quality of its wines, we are entitled to believe that they succeeded.
