Château Branaire-Ducru - 2008 - Saint-Julien

Red

Description

The great Branaire-Ducru wine gives pride of place to Cabernet Sauvignon, the flagship grape variety of the Bordeaux left bank, itself complemented by Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. These varieties draw their letters of nobility from a terroir that is characterized by an exceptional richness and diversity of soils. The castle is aware of this and thus exploits its 60 hectares divided into 70 plots thanks to sustainable agriculture.

Know a bit more about the domain

Located in the commune of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, Château Branaire-Ducru is classified as a communal AOC Saint-Julien, between Margaux and Pauillac, 40 km from Bordeaux.
The Château Branaire-Ducru vineyard extends over 60 hectares following a 10-hectare extension in 2010, made up of several plots, running along an east-west axis on the southern part of the appellation. The vines, 35 years old on average but some of which are a hundred years old, are planted on gravel-siliceous alluvial soils from the Quaternary period, recognized as one of the hottest terroirs in the region, allowing late grape varieties to develop while ensuring perfect phenolic maturation. The estate's grape varieties are typically representative of the Médoc with a majority proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), 28% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
