La Ménitré
User profile description

A few words of history... The manufacture of anjou bieres The adventure began in 1999. It is in the last century, therefore, that Vincent and Yann discover the joys of brewing. After wanting to set up their brewery on a gabare, they finally ran aground on the banks of the Loire at the Ménitré in 2004 and created La Fabrique des Bières d'Anjou. The Angevins then discovered the beer of the house: La Piautre, which is now available in about fifteen different organic beers. Its name comes from the Loire Navy and designates the rudder of the gabare (again it). In 2014, the year of our 10 years, wishing to free ourselves from industrial malting and get closer to the heart of our product we create our malting: place of transformation of barley into malt. It is in Maine-et-Loire, on about fifty hectares, that organic barley grows that we malt. In 2017, La Piautre is also Whisky! It is with Gilles Boudier, artisanal distiller of Vihiers, distilling over a wood fire on old stills in Nantes that we began this adventure. From organic barley exclusively malted on site, we brewed a beer intended for distillation. The eau de vie obtained then aged in Côteaux de l'Aubance barrels for at least 3 years. Thus was born the first whisky of the region. Discover the 2019 vintage! Vincent, Michel, Amélie L., David, Florian and Amélie M. and Jean-Baptiste
