This vineyard is located around the city of Chinon, around the banks of Vienna and up to its confluence with the Loire. It covers 25 municipalities in Indre-et-Loire. The appellation area covers 6,300 hectares.
history
Chinon Castle
Chinon Castle, which dominates Vienna, was the residence of many kings and princes, from the Plantagenêt kings to Richelieu. During the hundred-year war, Joan of Arc came to find Charles VII to convince him to reclaim the kingdom of France. The birthplace of Rabelais, the story and its fictionalized versions are carved into the architecture and landscape of Chinon to make it a place of pilgrimage and a charming site popular with tourists.

The vineyard was classified as a Controlled Origin Calling (AOC) by the decree of 31 July 1937. The AOC represents an area spread either over several municipalities (the case of Chinon for example) or on certain plots only within these communes, provided that they meet the criteria set (exposure, nature of the soil, etc.).
The majority of red and rosé wines are produced mainly with a single grape variety, cabernet-franc (also called "cabernet-Breton"), but the addition of cabernet-sauvignon is tolerated within the 10% limit.

History of the domain The creation of the Domain dates back to the 1950s by Raymond Loiseau, who chose to specialize his land in viticulture. The oldest vines on the property date from this period. The Estate expanded to about 6 hectares in the 1990s. He then passed on his passion to his grandson, Alain Da Costa, the current owner of the Estate. He obtained a Certificate of Agricultural Technician "Viticulture Onology", followed by a Certificate of Superior Technician "Viticulture 'nology". With these trainings, Alain Da Costa took over the management of the vines in 1996. As soon as he arrived, he planted new feet on a plot near the Domain. Harvest The harvest usually takes place between September and October depending on the sunshine of the year. The grapes must be ripe enough that the wine is not acidic, but it is not long before the first autumn rains do not damage the fruit. Alain Da Costa has chosen to carry out manual harvests for reasons of quality on the future wine and respect for the grapes and vines. The harvest day is above all a day of fun with friends and family. See less
