Castle of Figuières La Clape: one of the most magical places in southern France. A few kilometers from Narbonne, at an altitude of 150m between ponds, sea and rocky plateaus, this exceptional terroir, nestled in the heart of the garrigue and protected by the massif of La Clape, provides an ideal setting for the production of great wines. There has always been vines here, and today, among the few surrounding estates, Figuières is particularly intriguing. The Mediterranean climate gives us its warm days, the sea and the massif of La Clape cool nights. The prerogative of great wines made from grapes of extreme finesse that need to ripen slowly without being "burned". The soils, mainly autochthonous marl and marl-limestone dating from the Cretaceous, mixed with the products of the erosion of the limestone plateau that overhangs them, ensure hydration and freshness. Most of our actions focus on revealing the potential of the terroir. Each task, each precise intervention, aims to reveal the best of wine, in this remarkable place that is one of the great terroirs in Languedoc. Our philosophy requires a sharp monitoring of maturity. The complexity of a great wine depends on it. Understanding, feeling, knowing how to harvest separately and at the optimal time each plot, such is our credo. For whites, it is a question of waiting until the vine has synthesized the maximum of aromas, just before it "gets tired": ensuring the freshness that will enhance the structure of the wine. Red grapes can only be harvested if they have the right tannic potential, at a stage of the plant's cycle where vegetal notes have disappeared: the Holy Grail of power and finesse! Our work, at this stage of maturity, follows the idea we have of an exceptional wine. Nature has rewarded us for our care and patience. We take over for a long process of precision in our choices, our gestures. Our humility forces us to respect the raw material: so precious and so fragile at the same time. The essence of our terroir is revealed only by low average yields: 30 hls per hectare. No more than 4,000 bottles per hectare: the balance of the plant See less
