Welcome to Château Pech-Redon The Pech Redon estate is located in the La Clape massif, a small mountain between Narbonne and the Mediterranean Sea, on the highest plateau at an altitude of 180 meters. Years pass... The estate was created at the beginning of the century but its origins date back to Roman times (podium rotondum), as a villa testifies. In 1963, Jean Demolombe, a wine merchant in Narbonne, bought and renovated the estate. It was in 1998 that the Bousquet family became its owner and operated. The vineyard Concerned about respecting the soil and the environment, the 30 hectares of vineyards of Château Pech-Redon have been in "reasoned cultivation" since 1998, and then in Organic Agriculture certified ECOCERT. The grape varieties in Pech Redon White Grenache Bourboulenc Chardonnay Viogner WHITE WINES Black Grenache Carignan Shiraz Cinsault Mourvèdre Cabernet sauvignon Alicante RED WINE The climate The climate of La Clape is the driest and warmest in France. It drops less than 500mm of water per year, all in 60 days a year. The wind blows nearly 200 days a year (mostly northwest). On the Pech-Redon plateau, the wind is particularly strong and the drought is severe. The climate is softened and moistened by sea spray and altitude. Our wines The harvest is exclusively manual and harvested in a 15kg crate. The whites are pressed whole, only the first juices are used. They are cold-deburated, extracted after 24 to 48 hours and fermented without adding yeast and under regulated temperature (17 to 20 degrees) The rosés are obtained by bleeding after maceration 10 to 2 p.m. for Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault. Some of the Cinsault rosé is obtained by direct pressing. The reds are peeled and trodden, then they ferment without adding yeast to ensure the extraction of color and tannins, then reassembly and pigeage are ensured alternately. The maceration of the reds lasts from 25 to 40 days depending on the grape variety and the vintage. All wines are aged on lees for 6 months. Some vintages are aged in barrels of 12 in 24 months.
