Description

The Rabasse-Charavin estate, with an area of 40 hectares spread over the municipalities of Cairanne, Rasteau, Violès and Travaillan, produces a range of wines largely from old vines.

Cultivation is traditional: mechanical soil work, no use of weedkiller, nor chemical fertilizers

The production includes wines from Cairanne (red and white), Rasteau, Plan de Dieu, Côtes du Rhône (red, white and rosé) and our Vin de France Ribouldingue.

We will be delighted to welcome you on a visit to our estate to introduce you to the history of our estate, the work done in the vineyards, the stages of the process of making our wines followed by a tasting of several of our vintages.

Looking forward to welcoming you

François Rabasse, Edmond's father, bought in 1880 from General Victor Colonieu, the shed where he stayed with his family, as well as the 3 hectares of vines and olive trees that surrounded him and which he looked after. Edmond Rabasse, who was also a hatter, continues to grow them, vinifies the harvest, and sells up to 500 bottles of wine a year!sten2 In 1925, his son Marcel Rabasse, after starting as an electrician, took over the operation, added an additional 5 hectares and developed the sale of bottles. In 1950, his daughter, Jeannine, married Abel Charavin, originally from Rasteau, where he owned some vines. The surface area is increased also by acquisitions, and then increases to about 20 ha. The tone is set, the sale of bottles develops significantly and thanks to them the wines produced, recognized for their qualities, are rewarded in the many competitions where they are presented. In 1984, Corinne took over the torch, faster than expected since her father died two years later. Her husband, Jean-Paul Couturier, brought to the farm the vineyards of Violès, Worklan and the Plan of God. With new acquisitions the surface is now 40 ha. In 1993, their daughter Laure joined the team. Today it is she who is in charge of the company. A new cellar is built better suited to the demands of the work. See less
