Description
Our Marchee delle Saline vineyard was born in the Trapani region and has its roots in distant times, when great-grandfather Francesco Rallo, in 1860, settled in the Sicilian countryside.
The name of the estate comes from the nickname given to grandfather Francesco who worked in the salt marshes of Marsala during the summer season. Being very zealous and productive, he was given the nickname "Marchese".
Today, the Rallo family strives to produce unique wines that are an expression of the identity of a territory of the DOC Etna appellation rich in traditions, flavours and aromas.
This terroir constitutes an absolutely unique area, an active volcano with a combinable mosaic of soils because of the different lava flows of eruptions, in each meter of earth is different from another, giving the typicality and diversity of flavors, colors and smells.
We believe in the values of indigenous crafts and vines and the predominant importance of the terroir in the final quality of an authentic wine.
Our wine production is divided into two major wine-growing areas of Sicily: Etna and Marsala. The characteristics of our terroirs, the different types of climate and soil also play an important role in the identity of a wine.
We grow several grape varieties that are adapted to the soils and climatology of each terroir. (Carricante , Nerello Mascalese, Catarratto, Grillo, Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Perricone and Zibibbo)
Finally, we have made the choice to produce organic out of respect for the planet, and for generations to come.
We will welcome you on our estate for a didactic tour to discover our work in the vineyard as well as in the winery followed by a tasting of our organic wines.

The Marchese delle Saline house was born in the Trapani region with ancient roots dating back to 1860. From generation to generation, the passion, the preparation and the love to do things with the heart have been passed down from father to son over the years until today. During these years, great-grandfather Francesco Rallo, when he was not busy working in the vineyard, collected salt in the salt marshes of Marsala during the summer season. Being very zealous and productive, the grandfather Francesco loved the taste of things well done for this reason they gave him the nickname of "Marchese". His history and his love for the salt marshes led his grandchildren, years later, to honor the memory of their grandfather by giving the company the name of “Marchese delle Saline”. See less
