Wines of the Rhone Valley - Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu Domaine des Favards is located in the heart of the vineyards of the southern Rhone Valley, on clay-limestone and stony terroirs, we produce rich, generous wines of great character. We cultivate in organic farming 25ha in appellation Côtes du Rhône and Plan de Dieu (Côtes du Rhône Villages). We welcome you all year round to visit our estate and taste our wines. You can also stay with us in our cottage or on our campsite. Once upon a time the Domaine des Favards... Casimir Barbaud bought the property in 1920. At that time the 18 hectares were planted largely with mulberry trees for the production of silkworm. Only one plot is planted with vines. With the idea of producing his wine and vinifying his own harvest, he built a cellar as an extension of the family farm. A few years later, his son, Maurice Barbaud, took over the operation. He buys new plots, continues planting fruit trees and vines. He in turn enlarged the cellar. He vinified himself, as did his father, and sold all his production to the trade. In 1976, Jean-Paul Barbaud took over the Domaine. He restructured the farm to produce only wine grapes. He modernizes and expands the cellar with the objective of marketing his harvest in bottles. It was in 1980, with the 1978 Vintage, that his dream came true. He named the Domaine "Domaine des Favards" in homage to his grandfather Casimir who was nicknamed "Le Favard", in Provençal, the lucky man, literally the one who always has the bean in the cake of kings. Jean-Paul has now been joined by his daughter Céline. He transmitted to him the passion of the profession and the respect of the terroir. Engineer in plant chemistry she brings a new look to this small farm in organic farming. See less
