Description
It is a family story, like many in Italian viticulture, started by the founder Giuseppe Masci in the post-war years. It is a story of passion and sacrifice, of sharecroppering and emigration, of return and hope for a better future. In the 1960s, after a period of emigration abroad, Giuseppe's four sons resumed the cultivation of the vine and immediately realized the great vocation of winemaking of their territory in Villamagna. In 1979 from Torre Monache, the place of origin of the estate, the company moved to Valle Martello, from where it would later inherit its name. It is now up to the current generation, who took the lead role in the third act of this story. Since the year 2000, five cousins have been pursuing a project begun 70 years earlier, with the same convictions and values: to make great wines, to highlight the territory and to allow people from all regions of the world to taste it over a glass of wine.

The name Villamagna comes from two Latin words: "Villa", manor, and "magnus", brilliant. It is no coincidence that, in the past, it has always served as a summer residence for the clergy, as evidenced by the magnificent Palace of the Archdiocese. Built in the 16th century, the structure overlooks the valley offering spectacular views of the vineyards, seemingly endless. Villamagna is an important Città del Vino that, in recent years, has distinguished itself among others for the production of a full-bodied red wine. From the 2011 harvest, with a range composed solely of red wine, Villamagna Doc was released in Base and Riserva versions, in order to achieve quality and taste objectives. See less
