Description

to visit Maison La Mauny is to enter the heart of the production of AOC rum (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) in Martinique.
Crisscross the estate established since 1749 in the green countryside of Rivière Pilote. The guide will comment on the different stages of the elaboration of agricultural rums: from the harvesting of sugar cane to distillation through its grinding and fermentation of the juice obtained.
You will be among the lucky ones if you come during the harvest period (usually, between February and May depending on the year) and will observe all the excitement of an authentic industrial site. The last step punctuated by the visit of the cellar will allow you to understand the art of blending and aging "old rums".
Finally, the warm team of the Cabane à Rhum will accompany you to the tasting of the various rums and new liqueurs of Maison La Mauny.
For the most gourmet, eat at "Kay Mimi" at the foot of the distillery or concoct your recipes at the workshop of Ma Cuisine Créole (under registration in advance). And what better way to end your day on the pretty beach of Anse de Figuier, 10 minutes from the distillery?
We would be delighted to welcome you to make you discover the distillery and its history and the work done to develop our whiskies!

We look forward to seeing you again at Maison La Mauny

The Tasher de la Pagerie family, whose daughter Marie Josèphe Rose — called Joséphine de Beauharnais — was the wife of Napoleon and Empress of the French, wished to acquire the property. After bitter discussions, no agreement was reached with the heirs of the Comte de Mauny. 1923 The estate covering 170 hectares of a very rugged region became the property of the brothers Théodore and Georges Bellonnie. Georges devoted himself to distillation while his brother Theodore engaged in trading and specialized in rum. 1929 The production unit was expanded and modernized with the installation of a distilling column, new grinding mills and a steam engine. The volume of production can then meet the demand of Martinican consumers. 1950 La Mauny is experiencing a meteoric expansion, thanks to the marketing of its rums in screen-printed and labeled bottles. La Mauny signs appear for the first time in cafes, hotels and restaurants on the island. The export starts. 1996 The Rums Maison La Mauny obtain the Appellation Martinique Contrôlée in 1996 (AOC Label). For more than 20 years Maison La Mauny has been growing and its know-how is recognized by consumers and juries of French and foreign experts who award it numerous awards for all of its products. 2014 Maison La Mauny creates the Association des Planteurs La Mauny. It is the first distillery to have set up an association to highlight the work of sugar cane growers and to perpetuate the cane activity on the island. 2015 La Mauny reinvents itself by becoming Maison La Mauny. The brand is refocusing around its roots and its Martinican terroir. Proudly wearing the colors of Martinique, the range is reorganized and redeployed to highlight the unique know-how of the House.
