Description
The Vercors Distillery has settled in an 18th century magnanery to make organic Single Malt Whisky: The Redwood. Its name is in homage to the tree in the middle of the courtyard!
However, you will have to be a little patient before tasting this promising single malt (new regulation!) ... With a first cask made on September 15, 2016, the whisky of the Vercors Distillery will be at the rendezvous in September 2019! But, until then, amateurs will be able to console themselves by pre-reserving a bottle: a way to give a little "air" to finance the manufacture, while being sure to be present at the finish! Another proposal: a visit to the distillery. In order to communicate their passion and know-how, Éric and Anne-Hélène wanted to be able to welcome the public around a fun and educational course. From the cereal to the bottle, through the grain silo, the fermentation tanks, the distillation and aging in oak barrels in their cellars ...
The discovery of this organic distillery is definitely worth a visit, waiting for 2019!

The 1€ tours mean that they are made free of charge by the distillery. This amount is requested to ensure the seriousness of your request and avoid the winemaker to block a visiting slot unnecessarily.

Three years ago, Éric and Anne-Hélène Cordelle settled in a former magnanery at the foot of the Vercors Regional Natural Park. Their project? Create an organic whisky distillery near pure spring water. And, after a site visit, it is clear that they are well on their way! Arriving at the Vercors distillery, even before pushing the door, one can only be struck by the charm of the place. The setting is magnificent and the old magnanerie – silkworm factory – imposes it by its architecture of the 17th century. A first impression of beauty that will be confirmed by the discovery of the interior, as the owners have focused on renovating the place with a certain sense of aesthetics ... And with professionalism: the objective here is to make whiskey, and not just any! 100% organic Wishing for a radical change of life – moving from office work to distillation is not common! -, the couple is looking for the ideal site for a long time, with the desire to produce something that they can share with others. For Eric, an engineer by training, whisky quickly became a no-brainer. And even before he can make this project a reality, he is training and carrying out research on taste within the AgroParisTech Institute. Because, even if it means embarking on the manufacture of this high-end spirit, we might as well aim high: why not decide to work in 100% Organic? An achievable ambition, provided you master all the stages of manufacturing, and settle in a suitable place. See less
