. THE ESSENTIALS winebnb.com While his father, the painter Fauve Henri Charles MANGUIN likes to come and paint in his studio in Avignon, his son Claude Manguin falls in love with the island of Barthelasse, at the gates of the city of the Popes. Very quickly, this man who has the taste of the earth, notices the richness of his sandy and loamy soil, bathed in sun. He bought land there and planted several hundred hectares of pear trees. A charismatic harvesting owner, he founded the Manguin house and marketed an exceptional Williams pear. Claude Manguin was then the supplier of renowned delicatessens and beautiful tables, in Provence as in Paris. He also delivered Fauchon at that time. 1957 Claude MANGUIN extends his activity to the distillation of pears. The manufacture of pear eaux de vie and fruit liqueurs is developing. In the sixties, it further increased the success of the house. 1993 Philippe MANGUIN succeeds his father Henri, himself son of Claude. He therefore embodies the third generation of MANGUIN distillers. Philippe MANGUIN masters a rare know-how, made of meticulousness and patience. Thanks to a distillation all in finesse, he makes sure to express, in each brandy of pear and manguin liqueur, "the quintessence of the fruit, and the grain of the pear in the mouth"... 2000 During the International Competition of Eaux de Vie and Liqueurs of Metz, the distillery receives the "SIGILLE d'Or", for its brandy of Williams pears, 1998. 2010 Manguin is dedicated "Living Heritage Company". 2011 Emmanuel HANQUIEZ acquires the distillery. It undertakes the first renovations of the production site and expands the range of new original references See less
