Description

Vallagarina in its long history was known as the region of the best red wines produced in the German Empire and more recently, between the First and Second World War, as an ideal territory for the classic Bordeaux grape varieties; but wine production in this region dates back to the Roman Empire.

The Letrari vineyard consists of 22 hectares of vineyards resting in the Area of Borghetto all'Adige and Rovereto: this particular region has a perfect combination of landscape, terroir and climate.

The soil is poor and rocky, the temperature is ideal in summer (partly because of the microclimate created by the local wind, the Ora del Garda): the vines still coexist here alongside the olive groves.

The valley is more open here and the excellent exposure to the sun allows the grapes to ripen to perfection.

We will be delighted to welcome you on a visit to our estate to introduce you to the history of our estate, the work in the vineyard, the stages of the process of making our wines followed by a tasting of several of our vintages.

Glad to welcome you

The Letrari winery was founded in 1976 by winemaker Leonello Letrari and his wife Maria Vittoria, but the Letrari family dates back to 1647 and has been producing wine for centuries. Leonello was born on the family estate of Borgetto all'Adige, a town that is on what was once the border between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Italian Kingdom Today, Borgetto al Adige lies between the modern regions of Veneto and Trentino-High Adige. Enthusiasm for fine wine production was passed on from Leonello and Maria Vittoria to their daughter Lucia. Lucia graduated from the prestigious Institute of Agriculture and Wine in San Michele Al Adige in 1987, and now successfully manages the family winery with the same skill and passion. like his parents. The Letrari winery is very married to the distinctive terroir of its location and the microclimate of Vallagarina - an environment influenced by the Adige River that borders and the warm breeze that blows from Lake Garda every afternoon, known in Italian as "L'Ora" meaning the time This wind rises gently from the lake and rises up the valley every afternoon at 3pm precisely , it aerates grapes and vines in summer, heat and dry wind affect the sugar concentration of grapes. Letrari Vini produces 25 different varieties of wines, each deeply rooted in the territory and with distinctive characteristics. The temperate climate has also allowed the company to produce a limited amount of extra-virgin olive oil. particularly fruity oil with a delicate aroma.
