Description

Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr

Clay-limestone land, the Kirchberg de Barr is without a doubt one of our most beautiful terroirs. Exposed south, steeply sloping, and well exposed to the wind, it allows to obtain a perfect maturation of the grapes. The resulting wine is full-bodied, mineral and highly concentrated. It is an ideal terroir for fine wines of gastronomy and care.

Local wines: Riesling Kirchberg de Barr, Pinot Noir XXC, Pinot Gris Kirchberg de Barr, Gewurztraminer Kirchberg de Barr
Place called Salzhof

Located just above Barr's Kirchberg on the other side of the Grand Cru trail, the Salzhof is a superb marno-limestone terroir, rich in pebbles, draining and exposed south. The vines located on this soil give small grapes superbly concentrated producing a wine of superb intensity. The wines are characterized by a beautiful freshness and a beautiful fruitiness while keeping a great power and saline minerality.

Local wines: Pinot Noir Salzhof, Pinot Gris Salzhof, Le Beurot, Tout Feu Tout Flamme

We will be delighted to welcome you on a visit to our estate to introduce you to the history of our estate, the work done in the vineyards, the stages of the process of making our wines followed by a tasting of several of our vintages.

Our family vineyard stretches over 16 hectares on the beautiful Alsace Wine Route. We grow 13 hectares around Barr, Mittelbergheim and Heiligenstein. In addition, thanks to our family history, we own plots in Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr creating a variety of terroirs and unique climates. This wide variety of terroirs allows us to offer you a wide range of wines. We produce more than 40 different wines because we believe in diversity and want to show the richness of our region. We also want to demonstrate the ability of its terroirs to produce great dry wines of great complexity from Grands Crus, Places-saids, as well as sweet wines of rare intensity with the Late Harvest and the Selections of Noble Grains. Unfortunately, most of the wines produced by the major brands contain inputs and have undergone industrial processes to correct their defects. In addition, apart from sulphites, there is no legal obligation to have them on the bottle. For us, a grape of high quality that needs nothing else to produce an exceptional wine. We have been producing our Nature range for 10 years now. Unfiltered and without inputs (so without sulphites), it is simply the juice of the grapes transformed into wine by the yeasts naturally present on the grapes. Requiring additional expertise and special attention, this range is proof that wines can be produced without external preservatives, thanks to high quality fruit. Very involved in the preservation of the environment and advocates of viticulture without synthetic products, we use solutions preserving biodiversity and soil life. Forerunners of organic wine production in the region, all our vines have been grown according to the rules of organic farming for 20 years. See less
