Description

7 generations succeed each other until Arnaud Freychet, today winemaker of the Domaine where commitment and requirement remain his founding values.
It was in 2006 that Jean Freychet decided to create a hotel to help his brother to save the vineyard in great financial difficulty.
It is finally a campsite that he decided to create on a plot of more than 8 hectares. Not just any campsite, since the family business becomes with the arrival of Gilles Rigole in 2010 the first campsite to obtain the ranking of 5 stars in France.
15 years later, Gilles Rigole persists in creativity and ingenuity by developing in the family olive grove a new Luxury Quarter: Les Prés du Roi. Tonton was never far away, so he finally created the hotel so desired in this new district, offering rooms arranged in barrels. A real nod to our bestseller: the red wine "La Tourie" aged in oak barrels!
Today, the Camping du Domaine de Massereau extends over more than 13 hectares, where each space pays tribute to this extraordinary family!

it was in 1804 that the Domaine de Massereau was acquired by the Causse-Freychet family. Farm then winery, Mr Causse father and son are the symbols of this visionary and ingenious family! The history of the Winery is built around the soil of Massereau. A very fertile soil but also very arid in summer and too wet in winter. Mr Causse sr had therefore established drainages on the Estate and built an underground aqueduct to get rid of moisture. On the other hand, there remained the problem of aridity. Despite the wells already dug by his father, to bring water to the Estate in summer, the son Causse decided to open a new one. No luck, 18m deep and hard work to realize that he had only made a cistern ... After some thought, he set about building pipes to collect all the rainwater and lead it directly to the cistern! First storm and 2,800L of water collected! A feat to water livestock, land and men. But Mr Causse Jr. did not stop there. Year 1853: Causse fils discovers a spring belonging to a nearby estate near Junas and acquires it. Thus, he captured with great care all the waters of the spring and built an underground aqueduct in masonry, which brought the water to the farm of Massereau. The aqueduct opens either into the well cistern or into the large basin that it has built on purpose! 5 years later, the work is finally finished and Massereau has a considerable body of water, in this way Causse fils creates meadows watered on arid lands! The aqueduct is still located today under the grounds of the campsite! See less
