User profile description

DOMAINE DES BEGUINERIES Located in Saint-Louans, in the heart of the CHINON appellation, the Beguineries estate dominates the Vienna Valley. It covers an area of 13 hectares: 11 hectares of cabernet franc for red and rosé Chinon wines, 2 ha of chenin for white Chinon wines. Location of the Beguineries domain TAKE A STROLL THROUGH THE VINEYARD VINEYARD EXHIBITION The vines of the Beguineries estate are planted mainly on hillsides dominated by clay-limestone, typical of the Chinonais. Exposed mostly to the south, they benefit from the spring and summer heat that gives the grapes their fruity aromas and marked tannins. COME AND FIND OUT THE WORK OF THE VINE In order to limit erosion, one in two rows is grassed, the other ploughed. The size is practiced in simple Guyot for cabernet franc (red) and Cordon de Royat for chenin (white). All the counter-bourgeons are removed for better quality of the grapes. Our organically grown vines require our utmost attention. There are fewer treatments than in traditional cultivation (synthetic phytosanitary products prohibited). On the other hand, mechanical work is more important, especially in the vines and soils, and our harvests are manual. THE OWNER JEAN CHRISTOPHE PELLETIER Jean-Christophe Édouard PELLETIER made his first form as a winemaker in Chinon in the estate of his parents in 1979. He then became a winery manager at the Château de Saint-Louans (1987). He took the plunge in 1995 and created his estate, domaine DES BÉGUINERIES, composed in part of the family vineyards and his own vineyard, which he began to plant and operate since 1995. Converted to organic since 2012 and anxious to welcome its customers, the estate is part of the network of tourist caves of the Loire Valley Vineyard and adheres to the label Vineyards and Discoveries (Atout France).
