User profile description

Portrait of Corinne and Olivier Merlin Olivier and Corinne Merlin are wine artisans, who have always believed in the potential of the Mâconnais terroirs. 1977, birth of a passion It was in 1977 that Olivier Merlin had his first contact with the vine. That year, he made the harvest in an area of the Mâconnais and discovered an atmosphere, a family spirit. His passion for the profession of winemaker then began. A meeting in the Jura After a BTS in viticulture and oenology at the wine school of Beaune, the city of wine par excellence, Olivier Merlin worked for two years in a cooperative in the Jura as a wine merchant. It was there that he met Corinne, his future wife. 1987, takeover of the domain In June 1985, Olivier left for California. He vinified two vintages in Napa, before taking over the estate of Vieux Saint-Sorlin, on January 1, 1987: four and a half hectares and an estate to rebuild that had been in the same family since 1750. The beginning of a long adventure It is here that they decide to live and work, not by family heritage, but because they like this place and they have the intuition to be able to make good wines while respecting the fundamentals, in the vineyards: tillage, manual harvest. In the cellar: long pressings in whole bunches, fermentations and aging in oak barrels. Today our children join us The new generation arrives at the Merlin estate
