User profile description

Passionate, Claude and Jean-Luc Bohler dreamed of acquiring a small vineyard and making an authentic wine, a local wine. When, in 1995, after two years of fruitless research, they descended from Minerva to the plain and finally discovered the "landscape" of Cantaussel, they were conquered. This ancient estate is located on the "small causse" at medium altitude (300 m), isolated in a scrubland environment, 4 km north of Siran, at the western edge of the department of Herat. It was there that several peasant families, from the 1700s, a sheep farm, a stable, a threshing area, a bread oven, an old olive grove, were established in the past, living in polyculture. But the history of the place is much older if we believe the remains of a Gallo-Roman oppidum located on the estate, at the top of Pic St Martin, and several dolmens on the surrounding causse. Claude and Jean-Luc Bohler decided to do everything possible to become winemakers with the creation of a modern winery, largely underground, carved into the rock. They also restructured the vineyard and the first harvests were created in 1996. After all these years of work, patience, sharing and passion, they became winemakers
