Lethbridge Wines was born out of a friendship between Ray Nadeson, Maree Collis and Adrian Thomas. In the mid-1990s, we were busy establishing careers in science and medicine and shared a love of great wine that eventually became a real obsession. Afternoons sipping burgundy were replaced by weekends hunting for the perfect vineyard, then afternoons digging holes and planting vines. For two of us (Maree and Ray), the passion for wine led us to a change of tree, and in 2003, after 7 years of balancing scientific careers and managing a vineyard and a cellar, we have made Lethbridge Wines our raison d'être. Lethbridge Wines is located in the Moorabool Valley in the Geelong wine region. In the 1860s, the Geelong region was Victoria's largest wine region, having been established by immigrant Swiss winemakers. Unsurprisingly, the varieties planted included 'Hermitage', Bourgogne and Chasselas. The wines produced in the region have won numerous awards at local and European wine fairs. When phylloxera was discovered in the area in the early 1880s, the vineyard was destroyed and it was not until the late 1960s and early 1970s that vines were planted again in the Geelong area.
