Description

Carole Garreau, 4th generation of the Garreau family, and her team welcome you all year round and offer you the visit of the estate as well as its gourmet and cultural shop, 3 km from the center of Labastide d'Armagnac.
The transmission of the know-how of our ancestors is an element very close to our hearts, while inscribing us in modernity. At Château Garreau, we want to innovate, conserve, train and communicate around this heritage and promote reasonable and sustainable agriculture on the site. Our domain is labeled High Environmental Value.
In order to allow you to discover the history and the different methods of manufacture of our famous Armagnac, we invite you to participate in our visits and tastings throughout the year.
During this visit you will have the chance to visit and discover;
- the winemaker's museum (in a barn of the seventeenth century, presenting among other things a magnificent frame) where are exposed the tools of the winemaker to past centuries.
- the museum of stills mentioned above
- exhibitions, a game of aromas on the scents of Armagnac and a video on the cycle of the vine and the Armagnac distillation.
- a nature trail around the ponds to discover the fauna and flora of the Armagnac terroir.
- a tasting is offered at the end.

Carole Garreau, 4th generation of the Garreau family now manages the estate. It was his great-grandfather who decided to settle in 1919 on the best terroirs: the famous tawny sands, loamy sandy soil of ocher color, source of life and rare products. Château Garreau is at the heart of the golden triangle of Armagnac, these "1st grands crus of Grand Bas Armagnac" as they were previously called. Also known as the Gayrosse estate, Château Garreau now covers 82 hectares, straddling the departments of Landes and Gers. Its location, in the heart of Bas Armagnac, near the magnificent medieval city (thirteenth century) of Labastide d'Armagnac, makes it one of the most beautiful jewels of Armagnac. Our 27 hectares of vineyards, mainly dedicated to Armagnac are led in sustainable agriculture. They flourish in a preserved environment, between woods and ponds. See less
