It is in a beautiful and relaxing setting that the Bardet family cultivates its 60 hectares of vines. In Saint-Emilion, on the banks of the Dordogne, a strong element in the history of the vineyard, the passion for wine has been passed down from father to son for several generations in the family business.
In reasoned agriculture, Bardet Vineyards are part of an innovation approach in the service of the environment.
The Bardet Vineyards are fragmented into more than 100 different plots offering a remarkable diversity of soils (limestone, gravel, sands, clays, molasses), exposures and micro-climates. Such dispersion in space reduces the risk of hail, frosts or parasitic invasions and offers our wines a wide range of flavours and aromas.
An important precise and rigorous work is done to harvest separately the different terroirs and varietals, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
We will be delighted to welcome you for a presentation of our vineyard.
We will explain the work done at the vineyard, then the work done in the winemaking and finally the aging of the wines.
Rules and conditions
Visits at 1 euro means that they are made free of charge by the winemaker. This amount is requested to assure us of the seriousness of your request and to prevent the winemaker from blocking a visiting slot unnecessarily.

The history of the Bardet Vineyards began in 1704 on the banks of the Dordogne in Saint-Brice de Vignonet, south of Saint-Emilion. Mr. Seigneriau traded in wine and cereals and used to go up and down the peaceful Garonne, Gironde and Dordogne rivers, loading his river boat with gabare with barrels of wine, which he then sold in commercial ports. The port of Vignonet became an important trading station and a place where all traders stopped on their way down to the port of Bordeaux. While the river trade prospered, the Seigneriau family acquired some vineyards. However, when steam locomotives and railways arrived at the end of the 19th century, they dealt a fatal blow to the river trade and ended the profession of river boatman. The Seigneriau family decided to focus on their passion for growing vines. Respect for the land and the ambition to pass it on - In the 1920s, Mr. Seigneriau's granddaughter, Mathilde Roy, married a wine broker Henri-Gabriel Bardet, who founded the Château du Val d'Or, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. With the support of their only son, Roger Bardet, they acquired more plots in the late 1960s, where Château Pontet-Fumet was established. Roger Bardet passed on to his son Philippe a passion for viticulture, a taste for good work and a deep respect for the estate. In 2008, Philippe took over Château Franc le Maine, another Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. "A subtle blend of technical innovations and environmental practices designed to reveal the treasure of our land." Sylvie, Thibault, Philippe and Paul-Arthur Bardet The River Boat of Gabare, symbol of the daring effort - In 1979, Phillipe Bardet took over the management of the family business. With the help of his wife Sylvie, they continue to write the history of the Bardet Vineyards, preserve their heritage and gradually pass it on to their four children. Their two eldest sons, Paul-Arthur and Thibault Bardet, are ready to take over. In 2013, they acquired the prestigious Château du Paradis, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. In recognition of their family history, the gabare river boat has become the emblem of the Bardet Vineyards.
