Description
Our domain
In the Mediterranean triangle, Cévennes, Rhône, on these generous lands located in the heart of Uzège, the history of the vineyard is as old as that of the Roman province. After having belonged, from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 19th century, to the Barjeton Durfort family, the estate entered the Deleuze Rochetin family in 1820. Today, their descendants operate this vineyard, ideally located 3 km from Uzès.
In the winery, built in 2006, Baptiste Cartier produces very beautiful wines as close as possible to the typical sunny terroir.
In organically grown vines, flowers, herbs, trees and shrubs are preserved on the edge of plots. Insects, birds, small mammals, game, have taken their habits and live in harmony with the beauty of sunrises and sunsets and moon, against the background of Mont Ventoux, mountains of the Cévennes.
In the cellar, the visitor after a visit, a tasting, will have discovered the wines of the estate, red with a purple colour with a nose of black fruits, with liquorice notes, white and rosé while fresh.
We will be delighted to welcome you for a presentation of our vineyard.
We will explain the work done at the vineyard, then the one done to the winemaking to finish by the wine growing.

Our terroir The vineyard is located on stony hillsides, limited in depth, mainly made up of clay deposited on rocky banks of sandstone and hard limestone. Many shards (angular pebbles) are present in the clay layer. The rocky banks, very cracked, allow the rootlets to infiltrate to pockets of earth to draw the deep water reserves that the vine needs. Especially in summer when the shallow surface layer is parched by the sun. In the glass it gives fresh and fine wines, round without being fat, keeping a fruit intact. A beautiful man/nature collaboration found in each of our wines. Our philosophy All the vineyard plots of the estate, 23 hectares, are certified by ECOCERT in Organic Agriculture. We do not use any synthetic products on our grapes and in our wines, making them and making us, completely trusting. Out of conviction, respect for people and the environment, the domain embarked on this approach in 2009. The soils are mechanically weeded by an intercep tool that allows to work even under the rows of vines, the vine is protected by Bordeaux porridge and sulfur used preventively at very low doses. A daily presence in the vineyards, an anticipation of climatic events are essential to carry out the harvest. This reasoning is a continuation of the cellar by respecting our grapes and minimizing inputs during the different stages of wine life. A rigorous and logical organization of the work allows us to free ourselves from wine products. This will is reflected in our wines and allows us to deliver products without artifice in the image of our terroirs. See less
