Description

Château Caillou is 2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855 in the Sauternes & Barsac appellation.

Located in Barsac on a silous clay limestone subsoil with asteria, under a layer of clay sand dotted with pebbles, the wines are distinguished by their delicate aromas, their mellow, breed and sap of exquisite finesse.

The awards obtained at international and various Vinalies in the USA, China, Hong Kong, Great Britain confirm the reputation of this Grand Cru Classé.

The development of Château Caillou involves a very important manual work upstream: Pruning, decashing, 1st lifting, 2nd lifting that we carry out: it is a question of pruning each branch and arranging them parallel in the vertical direction so that the clusters are well ventilated and receive the sun's rays, contributing to the installation of a perfect maturity.

We will be delighted to welcome you for a presentation of our vineyard.

We will explain the work done in the vineyard, then that done in the vinification to finish by the aging of the wines.

Finally, we will offer you a tasting of some of our cuvées.

Our visits are subject to prior validation to ensure our availability.

We look forward to welcoming you to the estate very soon!

Château Caillou is a vineyard of 18 hectares located in the Haut-Barsac. A history of grand cru classified since 1855 but not that. Château Caillou is a vineyard of 18 hectares located in the upper Barsac on a limestone clay plateau dotted with pebbles. It is planted with first choice grape varieties among the finest; the semillon representing 90% of the vineyard whose essential virtue is its adaptation to develop cineréa botrytis. It gives fine wines, of a beautiful gold color on notes of almonds, honey and cinnamon. The final blend on the very special terroir of Barsac is part of the fame of the great wines classified so close to each other. See less
