Description

The terroir of the Maison Casters-Liébart extends mainly on the hillsides surrounding the town of Damery, but also in Saint-Martin-d'Ablois, in the heart of the Coteaux Sud d'Epernay. The grape variety is mostly in black grapes with 50% Pinot Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, which allows judicious and original blends. Nature lovers and anxious to respect the environment as much as possible, Cécile and David practice a reasoned viticulture on their vineyard facing south.

We would be delighted to welcome you to make you discover the Château and its history and the work done for the elaboration of our wines!

Looking forward to meeting you quickly at Château Champagne Casters Liebart

The history of the Family finds its origins in Damery, in 1857, when Eugène Cadel, Winemaker by trade decides to develop his own brand of Champagne. In 1900, his son-in-law, René Filaine, an airplane pilot, turned to trading and traveled throughout France to sell the Maison production. Marguerite Filaine, his daughter married in 1944, Louis Casters, a young man who arrived from Belgium with his family in the 20s. On the Liébart side, the story also begins on the hillsides of Damery in 1870 with Auguste Liébart, also a winemaker by trade. His son René succeeded him and also began marketing his first bottles of Champagne Liébart in 1938. In 1969, Vincent Casters married Liliane Liébart, they took over the reins of the property and created the Casters Liébart brand. Then as family stories are enriched with each generation, David Casters, the son and his wife Cécile, settle in their turn in the year 2000 by merging their two terroirs. Indeed, Cécile is also the fourth generation of a family of winegrowers settled in Saint-Martin-d'Ablois since 1900. Winemaking our know-how Winemaking is a major art, perfectly mastered by David Casters. Each stage of the elaboration, from pressing to dressing and shipping is carried out within the House and David has chosen not to practice malolactic fermentation in order not to change the organoleptic profile of the wine. The crucial moment, in the winemaking, remains the blending that Cécile and David practice once a year within the winery. As a secret ritual, these two enthusiasts mix and combine skilfully, different grape varieties and wines, terroirs and reserve wines according to their respective sensations and emotions, to create the cuvées of their wide range. They offer you a wide range of tastes and different aromas that will satisfy all Champagne lovers, neophytes or connoisseurs, at all times when you are in search of happiness and pleasures. See less
