Description

Four valleys, the Vibrata, Salinello, Tordino, Vomano, gran Sasso descend gently towards the Adriatic coast. These are valleys of alluvial origin crossed in antiquity by prehistoric rivers, which left a clay soil, rich in pebbles and sand.
The imposing shade of the mountain giant and the proximity to the Adriatic Sea offer an ideal microclimate for the health and ripening of grapes. A constant breeze and a wide temperature range, combined with the ancient knowledge of the farmers of Teramo, have made this region a very popular place for viticulture.
We would be delighted to welcome you to make you discover the estate and its history and the work done to develop our wines!
Looking forward to seeing you again

Born from the merger of two properties – that of the Spinozzi family of feudal origin and that of the Cerulli Irelli family, traditionally traders – the Cerulli Spinozzi agricultural estate as it is today dates from the early 1900s. The current winery was built in 2003 by brothers Francesco and Vincenzo Cerulli Irelli. Vincenzo is a lawyer and professor of administrative law at the University of La Sapienza in Rome, and Francesco the former president of the winery Casal Thaulero, as well as an Italian champion of motor racing from 1972. Today, the winery is managed by Enrico, the son of Vincenzo, who has a very clear project: that of enhancing the historic estate by replanting vines, aiming to produce more prestigious wines as well as maintaining and maintaining vines of about thirty years with relatively low yields, but of very high quality. In short, a modern approach but with respect for tradition. The campaign One of the company's main assets is the landscape that surrounds it. From all angles, you can see the Gran Sasso mountain, which encompasses the southernmost glacier in Europe and which, it is said, Napoleon himself found as a place worthy of resting: on beautiful sunny days, when there is high pressure, it almost seems as if you could touch the rocks. A few kilometers away, after the hills of Teramo that extend to the west, you can reach the Adriatic coast, where in ancient times the low sandy beaches were easy landing places for pirates and fishermen, while today they welcome holidaymakers. Climate and soil The land on which the estate is located is of alluvial origin and was once covered by the waters of the Vomano River. It is characterized by a texture that varies from moderately soft to clayey, with a good frame. It is characterized mainly by an alkaline and sub-alkaline reaction, with a pH ranging from 7.8 to 8.2. The presence of limestone is medium-low. The climate is typical of that of the mid-Adriatic, with rainfall that varies between 600 and 800 mm per year. The wettest months are November, December, March, April and May. The summer months are characterized by very little rain, usually brief storms. During the growing season of plants, temperatures range from a minimum of 7 ° to 8 ° C in the spring to a maximum of 35 to 38 ° C in summer. The content of phenols, especially red grapes, is favored by the temperature difference between day and night, which can oscillate between 15 and 20 degrees. The vineyards The vineyards - 35 hectares in the city of Canzano and 18 in Mosciano - are located in areas of the alluvial valley once crossed by the Vomano River. They are all oriented south/south-east, which particularly favors the maturation of montepulciano grapes, which is a late grape variety. The cultivation of the vine is done partly by the traditional capitals, and partly by the more modern style of the rows: for about fifteen years, the company has initiated a replanting program aimed at promoting a high investment of plants per hectare, increasing from 1000 to 4000. The predominant grape variety is Montepulciano, followed by Trebbiano, Pecorino, Sangiovese and Chardonnay. The harvest of grapes, which is carried out entirely by hand, takes place in the last week of August for Chardonnay and Pecorino and the first week of October for Montepulciano. For more than twenty years, the company has been following organic farming methods: only organic fertilizers are used, while copper and sulphur salts are used as pesticides. The different forms of mold are controlled by limiting the use of fertilizers and working on the foliar structure. See less
