Description

Whisky production has been at the heart of the way of life in this region most likely since the 15th century and certainly since 1897 when the first formal distillery on the site was created. The tomatin colony was formed only thanks to the wealth created by the distillery. We give you the opportunity to explore our distillery and discover how we produce our award-winning whiskies. You will discover the unique heritage of Tomatin, which began in 1897 and is now the driving force of the company. Afterwards, you can taste three of our expressions.
We will be delighted to welcome you on a visit to our distillery to introduce you to the history of our whisky, the work we do and the steps of the process of making our bottles.
We would be very happy to welcome you to our distillery!

The origins of whisky production in Tomatin are difficult to pinpoint - the formal distillery that operates today was established in 1897, but there is reason to believe that whisky production, although illegal, has been an important part of life in the area around Tomatin since the 1700s. It was not until 1897, at the height of the Victorian whip boom, that three men, John MacDougall, John MacLeish and Alexander Allan, and a handful of investors, decide to open a formal distillery on the site and form the Tomatin Spey district.
