ABOUT THE COMPANY "I was just a little boy. My maternal grandparents Giovina and Attilio took me to the countryside they had left years before to live in the city. I still remember the days when my grandmother was making me a fresh egg to eat or the time my grandfather gently placed a fluffy chick in my hand and the time he let me sit on his tractor while I imagined we were making our way through the fields on it! These memories also remind me of my paternal grandfather Francesco: he liked to take refuge in the vineyards, the place that offered him the quietest and inner well-being. Today as yesterday, the countryside has become a haven of peace where I come to find real affection, solid values and serenity. Since 2003, thanks to the support of my family, the countryside has become much more than just childhood memories; it has become part of my livelihood that I practice today alongside my wife Michela. CIRELLI FARMS The sea is only 8 kilometers away and hills, vineyards and olive groves surround the varied landscape of the town of Atri in the Abruzzo region where our farmland is located. Nearby, national parks, woods and badlands, all wonderfully preserved, are waiting to be discovered in the majestic silence that seems to characterize this region of Italy suspended in time and space. Cirelli Farms is the name of our IMC* certified farmland located on 22 hectares of fertile land. Everything that is produced on our farm is done in compliance with the sustainable natural cycles of our olive groves, vineyards, organic horticultural fields and livestock. Crop rotation, a rest period for the soil, fertilization and grazing of livestock are just some of the essential steps in the process of producing wine (in terracotta wine jars), olive oil, organic fruits and vegetables and meat of the best quality. *(Istituto Mediterraneo di Certificazione – Mediterranean Certification Institute) Cirelli Farms cultivate and produce in full compliance with the laws of organic farming, but we believe that nature itself dictates its own laws and it is these laws on which we base our agricultural procedures: -Crop rotation and nutrient cycle that allow the soil to "rest" and regenerate its nutrient content; -Natural fertilization by means of animals grazing directly on the ground. Manure produced by animals guarantees a natural herbicide and a method of fertilization without resorting to harmful chemicals. The production cycle is broken down as follows: in the first year of production, wheat, barley, spelt and alfalfa are sown, while the following year the land must be cultivated for vegetable crops. For the third and fourth years of production, the choice of vegetation is made on plants such as sunflower whose shoots can be buried underground once the seeds have been picked: in doing so, when these shoots begin to decompose they release valuable nutrients into the soil.
