Official references to the monastery vineyard exist from 1550. The estate and the cellar were used by the monks for viticulture and the harvest of grapes. The monks transported the grape must on mule back to the famous monastery's cellar, where they decanted it into 500-liter wooden barrels. Local workers were involved in this process, helping the monks and glorifying the Grand Vineyard "ΜΕΓΑli Ambelos" and its wine. At the end of the 80th decade, grape cultivation stopped due to the gradual departure of the monks from the monastery.
