User profile description

The island of Corsica is a mountain in the sea full of water and sun, a real Eden for fruits and plants of all kinds. Paradoxically in the 1970s, Corsican agriculture is in total disinheritance: the fruits are sold on an insignificant local market without any valorization brought to this magnificent nature. Carried by a wave of reconquest agitating the island at this time, "Le Riacquistu", Jean Claude Venturini decides to transform these wonderful fruits into eaux de vie and exceptional liqueurs. It was at the end of the 20th century that the MAVELA distillery was established in the heart of the eastern plain in order to enhance Corsican fruits and in particular plums that at the end of the 1980s replaced a large part of the island vineyard affected by the overproduction of wine. At the dawn of the 2000s, plum brandy and grape brandy from Domaine Mavela obtained the national consecration at the Paris Agricultural Show, each rewarded with their first gold medals. These sacres will form the base on which Jean Claude Venturini and his sons will develop the distillery to transform into eau de vie and liqueur the main fruits of the Island of Beauty: myrtle, cedrat and chestnut, quickly complemented by the traditional pear and raspberry eaux de vie. Today, Stefanu his eldest son directs and distills brilliantly; Mavela is rewarded at each of her presentations at national and international competitions. This is how our ancestral know-how is not only preserved, but also perpetually enriched by new creations.
