Visit and tastings of the castle Fonroque
Your host:

Château Fonroque cradle saint-émilionnais of the Moueix family and property of the Guillard family since July 2017 The castle was acquired in 1931 by Adèle and Jean Moueix. Alain Moueix, their great-grandson, inherited it from his father and then managed the property since 2001. From the outset, he established the practice, now certified, of an approach that places biological intelligence and observation at the heart of the advances of the vineyard, biodynamics. Alain Moueix is an agricultural engineer and oenologist. Promoting the harmonious vibration of his twenty hectares of generous land, remains for him an absolute priority. His great attention to the sustainability of soils, to the enhancement of the terroir, continue to grow in the study of biological phenomena and their pragmatic application. The goal is to reveal the brilliance and balance of the wines, following conscious methods. Eighteen years of collaboration with the Bordeaux trade and as many years of enthusiastic and exploratory work, have evolved the property and those who live it towards conversion to organic farming, then to biodynamics. A patient and passionate adventure that gives this charming property the status of the very first grand cru classé certified in biodynamics. It produces a very great Saint-Émilion wine, whose international influence and recognition are constantly growing. Issues of evolution and adaptation animate today the life of the Castle and its future, with the arrival of the Guillard family, for whom biodynamics is an essential argument and the contribution of competence of Alain Moueix, an obvious one.
